Radio Hip-hop and Why it Sucks

The radio has to be the worst source of music for anybody that listens to hiphop. Hiphop/Rap is known for being a raw expression of an artists emotions, creativity and style. The radio literally tears down every aspect of talent that the artist may have had, in many different ways. First, the radio must follow rules of censorship.By censoring an artist it takes away the whole message and meaning of the song. Imagine listening to somebody speak and they skip over every other word they say….you would no idea what they are trying to communicate to you. A perfect example of this dates back to 2011 when Lil Wayne started his steady decline and released the song “we be steady mobbin” with a mixtape version and a version that was played on the radio. The radio version is below…..and yes this was actually played on the radio….A LOT!!

Notice how every other word is censored and its literally impossible to understand what is being said. This is a regular occurrence on the radio and is a major reason why i have lost all hope in the radio. Second, the radio is infamous for playing the same songs about 1454356765 times a day on different radio stations. There are times when you can switch between 3 different stations and hear different parts of the same songs. I have no idea how the radio DJs stay sane with all the garbage being played on repeat.
In the end I can understand that not everybody has time to browse the internet in search of good music, but come on its 2013 all you need is a smart phone with pandora…your brain and music taste deserve it.
