Mixtape Review: The Soul Tape 3 By. Fabolous

fabolous the sould tape 3

Fabolous, a verteran of the rap game is back once again with his 3rd installment of The Soul Tape . It has been over a year since Fabolous dropped Soul Tape 2, but he has come back strong with a few big name features.  Fabolous has been up and down through his career but with this tape it appears that Fab is looking to start 2014 on a good note. I will only be reviewing the notable/memorable tracks of this mixtape so feel free to comment about tracks that are not listed below, enjoy.

Mixtape: THE SOUL TAPE 3

Notable Tracks:

#3. Playa- The first song off the mixtape that you can bob your head to…. This is a track that really shows the rhyming creativity that fabulous possesses. The title of the track “Playa” rhymes with the ending word of every sentence making for an interesting listening experience. With no hook there is extra emphasis on the 2 minute verse that Fab seamlessly delivers.

#4. The Get Back- A slow track with an album quality hook….With such a slow beat you would think that Fab would deliver a song with R&B type lyrics, but Fab still manages to keep it gangster and put together a quality track.

#6. The Hope-  Short but sweet… Jadakiss is one of the most under rated rappers in the game right now and he gives us some serious bars on this one. Both Fab and Jadakiss have similar styles of rapping so they mesh very well on this track. Jada does seem to overshadow Fab on this one but it works.

#7. Really cant go wrong with Jeezy on the hook…Some times having Jeezy on the hook can really make the song, and that is exactly the case with this song. A majority of this song is spent with Jeezy and Fab collaborating on an extra long hook. This sounds like a track off of a Jeezy album but all it can do is further increase the value of this mixtape.

#8. Cuffin Season- A story is told…A story about ladies that Fab has been waiting to tell. To put it simple, Fab just keeps it real on this track.

#10. Lay Down.- A chill track with another story being told with a nice beat on the side.

#12. Young OG- A great last track to the mixtape…This is the kind of hip hop that you gotta love. Fab spends no time in this song talking about how much money he has, how many cars he has, or how much drugs he sold. Instead he sends a message to a lot of his haters and how he can relate to the average hustler trying to make it.

Good Luck in 2014 Fab.
